It is apparent by now that Lil Tracy is a man that’s lived 100 lives. He’s gone by a number of identities over the years. Yung Bruh, Souljawich, Tracy Grey, Tracyminajj, and Elbish The Persian Dolphin to name a few. Gone are the days of the struggle – living in the woods using drugs & passing the time by getting high and just trying to survive. Emotional trauma is no stranger to Gen Z and millennials. The trials he faced during his come-up years are what shaped him into the musician he is today. From someone who has been making music for almost a decade, it’s safe to say his style has gone through just as many identities as the man himself.
In 2022 the fashion world is no stranger to the modern-day punk revival. The unofficially coined “Teen X” movement, features black outfits with leather pants, $1000 designer shoes, and fur sweaters paying homage to a 90’s punk aesthetic. Tracy is no stranger to this aesthetic by any means. Spotted wearing Chanel on numerous occasions, it’s safe to say the brand holds a special place in his heart. Shunning the typical Rolex or Audemars Piguet, he has been seen to favor a Chanel H0970 J12 Ceramic Bracelet Watch instead.
But things weren’t always this way…
Back in 2016, you would see the artist sporting spiked chokers, monster energy motorcycle gear, and hello kitty backpacks – all pointing to a more emo aesthetic. This era was ultimately his most defining one. With hit singles like “Pictures” (2016) & “Like a Farmer” (2017), it was evident that the experimentation was at an all-time high. Obviously, at this time the LA-based artist wasn’t that fashion-forward, but as he found more mainstream success and gained more recognition along came the financial success that allowed him to truly find his style and create some really unique fits that he is known for today.

The outfit above is one of my favorites. It is riddled with flashy accessories and resembles the attire of a 70″s rockband guitarist. Usually, full designer fits can resemble a tacky canvas and have the wearer look like a walking advertisement. But this is tasteful. The darker tones definitely downplay the luxury adding a more subtle look. This allows the accessories to stand out as the focus of the fit.
Tracy has owned the vampire aesthetic for many years now. Over the last 5 years brands like Rick Owens Givenchy & 1017 ALYX 9SM have helped shape the look into what it is today. With iconic pieces such as the Rick Owens Ramones, Alyx Buckle Chest Harness, and the Givenchy Monumental Mallow Sneakers.
The anarchist aura about his looks can be seen not only in his music but in his fashion as well. Tracy has grown up, giving up his emo aesthetic for a more grown-up vampire look. In 2022, it seems like everyone is trying to steal this look.

I'm just a normal, nice dude.
Fashion Instagram pages like @darkfantasyinterlude are showcasing all the fits in this category. It seems like anyone can blow a stimulus check and get pair of Ramones and try to emulate this look. But obviously, it’s not as easy as it may seem.
Over the years Tracy has gathered a cult following. Dedicated stan-like characters who at one time were posting pictures of themselves with drawn-on-face tattoos to mimic the artist. He even has a dedicated subreddit of fans who post his music and have discussions about his life and accomplishments.
Obviously, the goth / emo / grunge look has gone through many transformations over the years but before Tracy, the only people trying to be vampires were the kids who dabbled into the occult in high school. Now it’s almost a mainstream look. Every phase Tracy has gone through has always been better than the last, but it’s hard to see anything topping this one, as it is a personal favorite of mine. We will just have to wait to see how he can reinvent his style once again.
